About

Bios are hard, y’all.

I’m a wife and mama from the great flat state of Kansas. I’ve been married to my Dougie for 13 + years and we have two adorable and precocious children, Jacob and Katie.

I’m a freelance writer, juggling assignments like a circus performer in sparkly red shoes. Currently I’m a contributor for Media Refined.com, adding web content for Surgeries Today.com. I’m also paying it forward by writing a charity spotlight series for the amazing, life-changing, micro-giving network, Love Drop.us.

My first published short story, “No Place Like Home,” debuts on 11-11-11, in the winter anthology, Sleigh Ride. Weee!

I love to read as much as I love to write so my guest-blogging gig at Book End Babes is the perfect fit.

When I’m not writing for work or world peace, I’m embarrassing my husband and children by sharing our personal lives here on the, Is This Real Life/Family Shenanigans page.

I’m proud to be founder of VOGM Parents.org, an organization created after my daughter, Katie, battled and won a rare brain disorder, Vein of Galen Malformation.

I’m currently writing a book about our experience with VOGM and the treatment we sought in New York. I’m sharing our tale to raise awareness and secretly hope to score an interview with the dreamy Brian Williams from NBC News.
